Group 4 is over!!! 2++ days (tues and thurs and days of preperation) of full on group 4 project for my 2 science subjects is finally done today. photos on facebook! so tired now. being stuck in a room for the entire day working on the same thing for 2 days is not fun! well maybe its better than receiving exam results :/ thats for tomorrow i think. wed was x-country festival, or more like having fun for us, hahaha. i didnt really run. i made a deal with connie to run whenever we were under a shady tree-covered spot, then didnt quite do that towards the end. haha. instep relay was cardboard box race! quite fun hahaha. tuesday night went to watch the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA by ANDREW LlYOD WEBBER! Anthony Warlow (Australian) was the phantom with the white mask but very very handsome voice! here is an ad for everyone to watch it if youre in brisbane!

The Phantom of the Opera

"...the most sumptuous theatrical spectacle." - The Age
"...a musical, a melodrama, a phenomenon, and yes, a masterpiece." - The Herald Sun

Celebrated as the world’s most popular musical of all time, The Phantom of the Opera is returning to QPAC with a spectacular production featuring the country’s original phantom and a local leading lady. In a rare treat for Queensland audiences, Australia’s first Phantom, the extraordinary Anthony Warlow, will perform the lead role for the first time in Brisbane.

The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius known only as ‘The Phantom’ who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerised by the talents and beauty of a young soprano - Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine’s love for Raoul, The Phantom’s obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealously, madness and passions collide.

With spectacular sets and more than 230 costumes by international designer, the late Maria Björnson, The Phantom of the Opera contains some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most famous music, including The Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical is based upon the novel Le Fantome De L’Opera by Gaston Leroux.

Note: Anthony Warlow will not be performing on Wednesday and Saturday matinees. Following medical advice, doctor's have advised that Anthony should not perform any more than six performances per week – to do so may damage his voice. The decision to exclude matinees from his schedule is to allow him the maximum recovery time between performances. The role of the Phantom will be shared by Simon Pryce and Roy Weissensteiner at the matinees, both of whom have received audience acclaim for their performances.

(poor guy. if youve watched it before you'll know how the phantom has to scream and cry for Christine...its a rather sad ending. the phantom is a good person but does act immaturely for the love of Christine. poor guy!! his face purges their relationship. but Raoul definitly can sing as well too. just that Warlow definitely appears to have a more mature voice i think.)

my brother and i went with our school group of 25 students and 3 staff, we got balcony 2 seats, brother and i right in the middle. we kept leaning forward to see the musician pit: i dont know too much about brass instruments and woodwind and piano/keyboard players were really hard to see from so high up but the string players were definitely very very pro! the violinist is super pro and cellists as well! i could see the inside cellist better than the outside cellist. when any string players get to play the melody its damn nice!! hahaha. i <3>

the boat scene with Christine and the Phantom reminds me of sec 1 MEP days. once we had to form groups and act out a scene from any musical. i cant even rmbr what my group did but definitely rmbr Audrey and Xin Yun's group! They overturned 2 desks and sat in it, rowing the "boat" with recorders as oars xD very very funny!
