i was spacing out so much this afternoon i forgot i had maths tuition and went to take a shower. then halfway through mum yelled that the tutor arrived. haha. was so sleepy...i thought i had lots of things piled up from my schedule, to do. but im not doing anything ):
how am i supposed to get into dentistry like that hahahaha.orz
i wish Mrs Richards didnt split us up into random groups for Chinese oral, because I ended up having to write the script for 3 other people. Even though its on Tuesday, we haven't practised at all...fun. there's also things like UMAT to worry about..which is taking place in 2months' time.
on a happier note, CONGRATS to hanxin who has successfully got into medicine at NUS. now she's enjoying a month-long holiday in taiwan and canada. sighs. even my grandparents are pinning their hopes that I would get into dentistry or sth. how funny.
i wish english teachers wouldn't give us so much homework. Im sick of reading boring novels and writing essays and commentaries endlessly. i wish i could blog about something happier but theres none at the moment ):

today went pretty well! i got my english oral commentary marks (unmoderated) which was a L6, so that saved last year's horrible oral presentation marks and im L5. still have to work very hard on the world lit essays - surprise! Ms Newcomb returned my corrected wl2 draft today..so nice (: and encouraging. Definitely THANK YOU to all the English teachers for prepping me for my oral comm and also so many other things. (esp reading my crappy essays time after time) <3
dad took us out to this nice pizza place Arrivederia at Milton. and we had gelato too...so yum! i got home and found that dad got us wonderful snacks and jelly bellys! the world's best jelly beans <3 (i sound famished even though im not physically hungry haha)
i definitely really need to work hard from now onwards because i have been really slack since last week and my own study scheduled things are all behind time! oh no..........i quit blogging now (:

i finished reading jane eyre today in mandarin. dont read it its tormenting. if anyone reads it they should only read the 3 or so pages when rochester proposes to jane. the rest i find somewhat boring and pointless...lots of work to do now. for the past few days ive been reading my head off jane eyre in school trying to finish it. now theres an imaginary little jane eyre mist surrounding me. hopefully it'll wear off after viewing the live production of jane eyre tmrw night. i cant stand it anymore...

God Bless Vanessa
wl2 is driving me mad but thats because ive invested so much time in procrastinating
lots and lots happened but mostly importantly:
1. Vanessa Ong is in Royal Melbourne Hospital due to Brain AterioVenous Malfunction. There are updates on her condition at her livejournal. http://peanutcups.livejournal.com/ and a few at jana's blog http://www.364.blogspot.com/ since both of them are studying at Trinity College in Melbourne.
Its really sudden and shocking for everyone (including all the ex-st nicks and ex-SNSOers who ever knew her). I pray she'll be fine, like both pupils dilating and all the sympathetic nervous response happening soon. Please keep her in your prayers! Go Vanessa (Rong Xuan), im sure you can make it(: ): i want to visit you! I remember Vanessa from SNSO viola section, the funnily silly girl. hahaha <3
2. China's R7.9 earthquake in sichuan, beichuan and neighbouring places. So many many lives have been lost, it makes me feel devastated. This is exactly like The Not So Good Earth by Bruce Dawe. Basically, don't be ignorant and appreciate your life and be more open-minded ): AHH. i started hugging my mum while watching the major news reports on taiwanese news during the week. Mum cried nearly everytime she was watching earthquake related tragic news. Some people were really lucky and others were terrifying. Im glad I've read/analyzed Dawe's poem and learnt from it.

I had a huge week occupied mainly by the english oral commentary and then tok final submission and on friday - nearly the whole day for 'chinese at UQ'. The english oral wasn't too bad, according to the subtle (or unsubtle) hints Ms Townend gave me on how I did that day. I remember going in but unready to talk. Fortunately Ms Alcorn and Townend were my examiners and after coming in from their lunch break, were not in the mood to pressurize me. I think we chatted before and after I delivered, for probably equivalent to the amount of time I spoke for ;D I was quite fortunate in getting the extract I prepped most for - The Not So Good Earth by Bruce Dawe. I remember a few people getting random Poe extracts and didn't do too well. Hardly anyone picked up a Much Ado extract. I wonder how the other half of the cohort will do on Monday and Tuesday next week haha. Im so glad mine is done. After that was immediately Tok, which was so horrible I think Im going to fail. I hope I can do something to make up for all those essay marks, like doing a better attempt at the Tok presentations next term and also EE to get me my 2-3 bonus marks. On friday we had the dpi and fisheries annual talk thing and also the revolutionary science day...this year 500 students from other schools came over so it was apparently a bit hectic haha. I was away with most of other year 11 and 12 Mandarin students at UQ from 10:35 to 2:35 for the "taste of Chinese in University" little program. The first session for the background speakers' group was extremely boring, on the history of Chinese characters. Then we had a short break and they provided buns and fortune cookies. My fortunes were ridiculous haha. The second session was about Chinese-English translations, the mistranslated examples were hilarious. The other schools which took part were Churchie, St Pauls and some other school. We had the largest number of students participating (and probably largest number of Chinese students). In total, about 20-30 students from QA participated while there were less than 10 from each of the other schools. I think in the background speakers' group we didn't really interact much while the other 2 groups did fun activities and won chopsticks. It was partly a waste of time because we weren't learning anything but gave me a better insight into the UQ Chinese course. Who knows maybe I'll end up doing a double degree in Business and Chinese translation. HAHA.
