Im very thankful and grateful to the people who have been asking how ive been going in uni, checking on me, spontaneously talking to me (:
makes me feel like im not always the person having to ask people how they are...remind them that i exist (for lack of a better word).
updates:
-im only doing two subjects now cos my IB bio and chem can cover chem and cell bio subjects at uni. so that leaves me with mondays and wednesdays at uni!
-im looking for a job to fill in the tuesdays, thursdays, fridays and maybe saturdays. a job that's close to home! e.g. at the shopping malls nearby, dental clinics... we're in an economic crisis so this is going to take a while. i dont have working experience, so that makes it harder too.
-2 weeks since i took out my first studs! and the joy of wearing all these different earrings. i digress.
-some juniors from my high school have asked me to tutor them in various subjects. but i havent actually got a proper 'student' yet. i'd love to do that. funny how my brother doesnt ask me questions anyway. when i say..do you need help? i can tell you how to do this and that assignment, and how to study for your tests...he's just not that interested. talk about being resourceful haha. his choice anyway.
oh and he's been pretty stressed with exam block coming up anyway. i dont expect him to do well this term. when you first start out the last two years of high school, generally your grades drop initially...while youre still trying to cope and adapt.
but at least he could me more accepting and resourceful. wouldnt asking me for help make his life so much easier? that's my little brother for you.
-interview with A/Prof Jeroen Kroon, Vice head of the school of dentistry at my university today was good. he's really friendly, open, nice. will blog about him and his research career and our dental sch next time, after i consolidate the interview scriblings from today haha.
will go and practice my cello again later. i wish i have thicker skin! my left hand fingers just develop this calluses (is that the right word?) or hardened flaky skin from practice. my brother plays the violin and he tried my cello the other day...he was saying his fingers hurt after about 3 mins of playing random notes on the strings. makes me think of Wang Jian (i think that was his name) or some famous cellist guy. My string ensemble conducter at school (st nicks) back in singapore played cello in the singapore symphony orchestra then, and did a concert with that guy. Apparently Wang Jian practices till his fingers bleed. Ive heard about few people practicing till their fingers bleed, but that must be till a crazy extent. I mean, considering that my fingers just keep developing hardened skin....haha.
anyway, this week im playing Meditation from Thais by Jules Massenet - go youtube it its really nice; and Allemande from Suite 1 - JS Bach's cello suites. ive had 2 lessons since i picked up the cello this year, so im wondering when i can get back on track to where i had left it. but im glad, i have a feeling my technical side is developing. it used to be really bad - rigid arms etc.
